Amazing amazing amazing. First of all, they have complimentary chips and salsa, as well as grilled onions, cilantro, lime, etc. that you can add onto your entree. Their tacos are delicious--probably the best that I've had in Seattle. My favorite are the carne asada. I also really enjoyed the carne asada plate. I love taking friends here because they always leave full and happy. It's locally owned, authentic food, and it's a gem of beacon hill. So happy that I discovered this place.

When you read the reviews, you think this could be life changing, world shifting and the most memorable meal of your decade. The menu here, although simple, should have something for everyone. The service was pretty fast and extremely friendly.
The taco plate was a decent deal, but in the end, I left anything but impressed. The Carnitas was fatty and wasn't as flavorful as I expected. I also like my carnitas fried, so I felt like I was eating warm fat. The Pastor also lacked zip and didn't have the spice, the citrus or flavor I expect from the dish. The chorizo was the worst of them all, after a few bites, I put it right in the trash. The rice and beans were good and the main salsa was the best part of the meal. The chips tasted like they came out of a bag and they probably did. A great salsa needs a warm crisp chip, you can't match that with food service tortilla chips.
It was a 30 minute drive here and not worth it. Truth be told, if this place was in my zip code, I don't think I would return. It was really mediocre to me, and if it were not for the service or the salsa, this place would be a single star. -

Came by a second time, and everything literally was worst. Tacos weren't as good, at the same it took a long time to get the food even though the restaurant wasn't as packed.
The tacos were dripping in oil, making the tortillas soggy.
There was no complimentary chips and salsa and grilled onions out like before. First and second experience were literally night and day, and I came back a week after my first visit. -

I used to come to this spot when it was a Filipino restaurant. The other day I noticed that it had been replaced, and the many signs of "Authentic Homemade Mexican", so I decided to stop in and try their carne asada taco plate. Currently my go-to Mexican place is El Quetzal.
Well, the chips ain't homemade. Free chips and salsa are not what brought me to this establishment, but since they were there I had some, and I would suggest bringing your own chips(like Juanita's).
The music was being played through a 2x 15" self amplified speaker stack on its side and located above. It was a little too loud for my preference and something was wrong with the audio. It sounded like dust collecting vinyl, or poor streaming.
I enjoyed the rice and beans were fresh, sprinkled with a little cotija.
The tortillas for the tacos are homemade, and it was quite a bit different that tortillas that I'm used to. I like being able to see the process. The tortillas they made for the tacos were incredibly soft, and I'm still not quite sure what to think. I think I would venture to say that they were too soft, and it makes me wonder if they are corn, flour, or a mixture of both. They seemed way too soft to be just corn tortillas. For reference, the brand I use at home are Guerrero tortillas de maiz blanco.
I'll be coming back to try the carnitas and also the chiles rellenos, and may update this from 3 stars to 4 if it goes well. -

Tried this place out to expand on our Mexican food list. Saw lots of pictures of their carnitas (and also mixed reviews on yelp), and wanted to give this place a try.
He got the carnitas tacos and a carne asada torta. I got a vegetarian burrito. The carnitas was very flavorful. However, at our favorite mexican places, they do a quick sear so that extra crisp factor is there. Tacos were good, but would be even better if it was a little crispy. He appreciated that this torta was not smothered in mayo/sour cream (?) like some other tortas. The carne asada was ok. It was a little dried out, so probably wouldn't come back for their carne asada specifically.
A veggie burrito is not on their hanging menu, but I asked if that was a possibility and they said of course! It was nothing fancy- rice, beans, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and onions but a nice size and I'm not complaining. With the sauces that they have available, I left with a happy tummy. I believe they also have tamales w/o meat fillings, but did not ask if they were vegetarian tamales (no lard in dough) or not. But those asking if there is a vegetarian option, yes, a veggie burrito is available!
